ROLL CALL #2, CLASS #10

After collaborative building in Rocket World. Logged off after mine was checked

#FINAL 3: Group Building Project

We were tasked with creating a house, pool/poolhouse and garage in Rocket World with our teams. Starting with a 2D blueprint of what we were going to build, we then broke off and started to create everything.

I worked on the pool furniture, including the pool chairs, toys, floats, table, and other devices.

2D Plans of everything

Creating the table and the initial chair

Creating more pool chairs

Beach towel and pillow, with shiny mirror things for tanning

Adding flotation devices next to/in the pool

Adding cups and a boom box on the table

A view of the pool and house

Another view, of the pool house and the garage

Deleting everything

This is the process of collaboratively building in Rocket World. We first split into teams and planned out what we were going to build in 2D on the Audio Whiteboard. Then, we entered RocketWorld and built according to where/what other people were building to create a "realistic" house setting.

It is a midterm exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

#FINAL 2: Building Basics in Rocket World

Patrick and I were the ones who led that class and described the process needed to create an astronaut/rocket to everyone else. As such, the screenshots for my astronaut are from the Sunday class. I did however build a rocket from scratch.

I took one screenshot of someone I pasted onto the WhiteBoard to help the class out with the instructions given from the other class.

For the overview and NASA flash video, visit the other blog post from Sunday's class: [1]

Spacesuit is also from the Sunday class
Making the general structure of the spacesuit
Boots: Half-Sphere and a Cylinder (half underground), both rotated
Legs: Cylinders
Body: Cylinder, stretched
Arms: Cylinders rotated

 Hands: Spheres (half inside)
Equipment: One front pack, 2 in the back
Helmet/Neck: Half-Cylinder and a Sphere

There are views of the finished product. Used the snow texture for the main body, a plain untextured gray for the gloves and boots. Steel texture for the equipment. The face of the helmet is a pressed half-sphere untextured brown.

This was Patrick and I instructing the class the Thursday class on what we did earlier in the Sunday class, namely reading and watching the NASA flash site overview and using that data to create our own Apollo spaceuit and rocket.

It is a Final exercise from the Immersive Education course that I am taking at Boston College. The course is called Discovering Computer Graphics. For details, visit the immersive BC portal at http://ImmersiveEducation.org/@/bc

ROLL CALL #2, CLASS #9

Roll Call 2, after doing some explaining of building in Rocket World to the class

Class 9 [1-4a]: Rocket World and Avatars

I have no self-expression :) [2]
Second Life is not how I want to represent myself, in any case [2]

For the sake of doing something for an hour... Random changes.
Wouldn't really say my avatar benefited from any of it >.>

Tall and skinny, gonna go play the basketballzz yo!

Giant head, huge nerd.
Huge chin, square face. Like an Asian Jay Leno. Yessir.

Sorta flat face. Again like Jay Leno... and Asian.
At least the face is symmetrical!
Large brows, huge forehead.

It shoots lasers out of its eyes!

And the end product is the eyes are completely shut.
Pretend it has a skin-colored mask on... like Spider Man!? With eyebrows, mind you.

I'm an elf too.

Alright so maybe Jay Leno's nose doesn't point to the sky or forms a bridge large enough for horses to wade through the flood waters (yeah Oregon Trail!), but my elf's nose is just that.

Oh, it's also 80yo with dried-eyed lips.

I would've went with the full Star Trek elf race chin thing, but I wanted to retain some of Leno.

Juicehead, going to be featured on next season's Jersery Shore~

Duffle bag... what is this I don't even...

YouTube video, again [3]

Rocket and Spacesuit MP3 [4a]
I don't like this exercise :'(
